The Rockbridge chapter got together for on last hurrah for the fiscal year ending June 30th. The Rockbridge Rapids baseball team played the Woodstock and beat them 10-7. Dinner was served and the group feasted on barbecue, cole slaw and beans. The weather while hot was tempered by the tent. 17 alumni and spouses showed up for the event and we decided that evening to repeat the event on July 20th. The alumni party begins at 5:30 pm and food is served at 6. The game begins at 7. The cost was $9.50. We are changing the menu a little next time and hope to keep the cost at $10.00 including the ticket, or $6.00 with a season pass. We will post the specifics before the next game.
Annual Meeting and Semi-Annual Newsletter
The Rockbridge Chapter will be having it’s Annual Board Meeting on June 30th. Specifics are to follow. We have completed our newsletter for the season and have included a few proposed events with tentative dates. For this coming year, we are adding an event at the Rockbridge Winery and a Rockbridge Regiment event to support the Washington and Lee University Cycling Club, in their first-ever sponsored bike race in Buena Vista, VA.

Book Award for Parry McCluer Student
Buena Vista’s Parry McCluer High’s Senior Awards Night was May 27th and Alumni Chapter President, David Cobb, Gave a book award of a copy of “General Lee After Appomattox” to Graduating Senior Aaron Beverly. The night was filled with the award of many scholarships and honors for many of the 60+ graduates of th eclass of 2010. Congrats to Aaron and all the seniors of Parry McCluer
Book Award for RCHS Student
Junior Nathan Julian Welsh received the Washington and Lee University Book Award at the Rockbridge County High School awards on Wednesday, May 12th. Nathan was given the Book “General Lee After Appomatox”
. On May 27th The Rockbridge Chapter awards a student at Parry McCluer High school.
